Highlights of Past Events at Calgarth Park

Calgarth Park's Jubilee Party

With such a significant milestone in the history of our Monarchy and with events planned for all over the UK and beyond, our Manageress, Colette created a party atmosphere for the residents and trustees. A day or two before, she organised a celebration Hat making afternoon. Many quite remarkable decorated “chapeau” ideas were evolved .

Some of the ladies has actually made a bonnet into which flowers decorated the headpieces. Together with the pretty summer dresses, which came out on the day, and a sunny one too, the entire scene out on the patio was a delight to behold.

Prosecco by the glass and nibbles to complement the drinks made it an afternoon filled with joy to remember.

The writer alas had no female support and selected a rather aged rain hat and, using masking tape, secured a selection of weeds collected from the walls around his home in Grange. They were colourful weeds nevertheless, but wilting soon became evident especially sitting out in the afternoon sunshine.

With some background music, the pleasures of laughing at the ideas conceived, and the view of Lake Windermere in the background, all who attended had a most delightful afternoon party. A light two course meal was served in the dining room all with Union Jack napkins and table decorations.
Above all, we have to give thanks to Colette and her helpers for giving us all such a memorable afternoon party.
